THERAPY FOR ADULTS

Surviving hardship and adapting to its impact takes great strength, but it can also leave life feeling limited and isolating. You might feel disconnected from your relationships and out of contact with the person that you know yourself to be deep inside. Therapy can help you revisit and heal old hurts so you can fully reclaim your vitality.

Life holds many demands, some expected, many not. In the struggle to meet these challenges, you might find yourself foreclosing valuable aspects of your identity, feelings, and relationships. Ongoing stress can overwhelm your deeply held sense of equilibrium, resulting in unexplained symptoms and self-defeating behaviors. We'll create a space where you can get back in touch with yourself from the inside out. Together, we will find ways to listen and respond to your deep inner needs and productively work with whatever might get in the way. As a part of this process you may come to see and know yourself very differently and find that change is happening on its own accord.

You might need help with:

  • difficult transitions
  • issues with close relationships
  • depression and hopelessness
  • grief and loss
  • anxiety and panic
  • self-harm and suicidality
  • exploring and supporting nonconforming gender identities and sexual orientations
  • impacts of discrimination and oppression

It can be both thrilling and terrifying to leap into a vast and complex world of new responsibilities. Therapy can be a safe space and relationship where you can express yourself and explore who you want to be and how, with no pressure to get it right.

THERAPY FOR CHILDREN

Stepping into your child's world, so they can communicate their experience and we can begin to understand how to help them feel better. Your child and I will use toys, figures, art supplies, role-playing, body awareness, movement, and games to explore and make sense of their experience and stories.

Children respond to stress and trauma in ways that sometimes don't readily make sense to adults, even to their parents and caregivers who are closest to them. Therapy can provide children with a unique space and relationship to express and begin to understand their feelings, needs, fears, and desires. We will work collaboratively with you, the parent or caregiver, to help share the understandings and make the changes that will support your child's healing and growth.

Your child may be needing help with:

  • social and behavioral challenges
  • difficult transitions to new caregivers, settings, or places
  • impacts of parent separation and divorce
  • exploring and supporting nonconforming gender identities
  • developmental trauma and complex trauma
  • somatic concerns
